Cyclone Gabrielle: NorthTec – Te Pūkenga campuses closed. Reopening Mon 20 Feb
Due to Cyclone Gabrielle, all NorthTec | Te Pūkenga campuses will be closed this week, and semester 1 will begin Monday 20 February
While we are sorry to have to push back the start of the semester, this decision has been made to keep ākonga (students) and kaimahi (staff) safe.
Pōwhiri
Pōwhiri planned for Monday have been cancelled. Instead, you will be welcomed with an online pōwhiri held in your classroom on your first day on campus. We have made this decision to ensure that you do not lose too much teaching time due to Cyclone Gabrielle.
Ākonga currently studying
Ākonga (students) whose programmes are already under way will be taught online in the interim. Your academic pathways/tutors will contact you directly to tell you about arrangements for remote learning.
New ākonga
For new ākonga, please do not worry about your studies over the next few days. Your tutors will make plans to catch up on lost teaching time throughout the rest of the semester.
Support services
NorthTec – Te Pūkenga Student Support Services are available remotely if needed. Please contact Huria Bruce-Iri via hbruce-iri@northtec.ac.nz or on 021 272 2939 if you require support from us.
Emergency and essential services are preparing for the impact of the cyclone and there are many support services available in the community.
The most important thing is for you all to stay safe and to ensure your whānau are safe.
We look forward to seeing you all for the deferred start of semester one.
